Top 5 Best Things About Grayson

Posted by admin

Grayson, Georgia is the ultimate small town. With just under 3,000 residents, you get to know your neighbors pretty quickly. Even so, it’s just a short drive away from big city living — though you would never know it just by visiting. It is almost a testimony to days when times were simpler and a Coke cost a nickel.

However, Grayson’s many events, shops, and activities make it stand out. Here are 5 of the best things about Grayson. Be sure to check whether you are moving here, visiting, or living nearby!

1. A CELEBRATION OF COMMUNITY

Every spring, residents and visitors crowd into Grayson Community Park to celebrate those who have made a difference in the community, whether by fighting overseas or leading the town to prosperity. On Grayson Day, the park is filled with tents of vendors who bring crafts, music, arts, and, of course, lots and lots of food.

The day starts with a parade celebrating hometown heroes, includes a 5K run, and ends with a family event like a movie screening. You don’t want to miss out!

2. A TOP RESTAURANT IN GWINNETT

If you ask locals where you should eat if you are visiting Grayson, they will likely give you one unanimous answer: graft. This award-winning restaurant serves locally sourced produce and uses only the freshest ingredients to make breakfast, lunch, dinner, and brunch. You can also enjoy a wide selection of wine, cocktails and beer. If you plan on eating at graft on Friday or Saturday night, be sure to make a reservation. Tables go quickly!

3. A PLACE TO RELAX

Grayson Coffee House is the place to go whether you need a quick cup of joe, a place to meet with your Bible study group, or somewhere to study for finals. Every cup of coffee is made fresh with beans from Jittery Joe’s, a roaster just up the road in Athens. They also provide great pastries from graft (just next door), artisan bagels from Masada Bakery in Norcross, and sweets from Totally Baked in Grayson. Come in a couple of times, and you’ll be on a first-name basis with the coffee house owners!

4. A SAMPLE OF LOCAL BREWS

Every fall, you can enjoy music from local musicians and beers from some of Georgia’s best brewerie, at the Grayson Blues and Brews Festival. More than 100 craft brews are featured at this festival; you can try them all! Tickets for this event, Hosted by Grayson’s Downtown Development Authority, generally go for $15 to $55, and proceeds go toward the Grayson Children’s Fund. Be on the lookout for details about this year’s festival!

5. A PLACE TO EXPLORE

You will find a few parks in and around Grayson that are well worth an afternoon. As you may have noticed, Grayson Community Park is a hotspot for locals to gather to enjoy the nice weather or for an event. You can also check out Tribble Mill Park on Grayson-New Hope Road. Here, you can go hiking, enjoy a day of fishing, and even go horseback riding. Nearby is also Alexander Park. This park also features walking paths and fishing but has an added feature: an 18-hole disc golf course.

These and many other amenities and events make Grayson one of the best towns in the metro Atlanta area.
