What Makes Grayson a Great Community?

Outside of the hubbub of Lawrenceville in Gwinnett County, you will find the sleepy town of Grayson. It has long been a destination for those who may work in Atlanta or other larger cities as a respite and a great place to get away from all the noise at the end of the day. With under 3,000 people living here, Grayson is the definition of “Small-town America.” Here, everyone knows your name — including Mayor Allison Wilkerson.

Yet, you’re never too far from the thrills and fun of Atlanta and the surrounding area. Just a few miles down the road is the main artery into the city: I-85. You would never know it, though, with the sincere community of Grayson. That’s why Dogwood Forest has chosen this town as the location for its newest community.

WHY RESIDENTS LOVE GRAYSON

Grayson is a town built on tradition and friendliness. Every spring, residents gather to celebrate Grayson Day. On that day, Grayson Community Park is filled with artisan vendors, crafts, and lots of food. It is a celebration of community members who have made a difference, whether here or overseas. Like any traditional small-town festival, there is a parade you don’t want to miss.

Other great festivals throughout the year include the Grayson Blues and Brews Festival in the fall. Hosted by Grayson’s Downtown Development Authority, this festival features local beer from all over the state, as well as some stellar music. All proceeds go toward the Grayson Children’s Fund.

Every day living in Grayson is also spectacular, especially when it comes to food. There are many great local restaurants in the area, including the award-winning restaurant graft. Right next door is the Grayson Coffee House, which serves fresh-roasted coffee from Jittery Joe’s in Athens. And, of course, every local knows there’s no better way to start their day than with breakfast from Grayson’s Olde Post Cafe, a community staple for over 40 years.

DOGWOOD FOREST IN GRAYSON

As you can see, Grayson was a natural choice as a location for the next Dogwood Forest community. Slated to open in 2017, we are working hard to create the best-assisted living community anywhere. So far, we have laid concrete and built the internal structure with steel, ensuring the building meets some of the highest safety standards in the world. We are also including compartmentalizing electronic smoke doors so that, if a fire does break out, it is quickly contained.

If you want to see how we’re doing, come to our community just off of Grayson Highway! Or, if you’d rather, you can follow updates on our Facebook and Twitter pages! For more information about our communities, contact us today. We look forward to serving you!
