Getting to Know Grayson

Grayson, Georgia is a small town tucked away in the southeast corner of Gwinnett County. With a population of fewer than 3,000, the town is one in which everyone knows your name — including the mayor. Though it is only a 45-minute drive from Atlanta, the noise, light and air pollution is minimal. If you have dreamt about moving to a small town in your retirement, but don’t want to move too far from your family in the city, Grayson is the perfect solution.

Because Grayson is so small, it is relatively unknown to non-locals. Let’s take a quick tour around Grayson, including who’s here and what’s around.

The Local Government

City hall is located just off Grayson Parkway; if you blink, you’ll miss it! Though the building itself is fairly low-profile, it serves an important role in the community. Within city hall is the office of Mayor Allison Wilkerson, as well as the city council members and other members of the government. Though you may need to call ahead, the mayor and other officials are almost always available to talk. And, chances are, you’ll bump into them anyway at local coffee shops or restaurants!

Grayson’s parks and recreation department is also very active within the community. They maintain two parks: Tribble Mill Park and Bay Creek Park. These green spaces offer all sorts of fun activities for you and your family, from biking to fishing to playgrounds. You and your loved ones can enjoy spending time in the sun with your closest neighbors in these beautiful parks.

What’s Around Grayson

Small-town Grayson is surrounded by larger cities. Just a few minutes north is Lawrenceville, the seat of Gwinnett County. The same distance to the southwest is Snellville. Head southeast, and you’ll quickly find yourself in Loganville. You’re even near Stone Mountain, just a little under a half hour away. The Grayson community is only strengthened by having these larger cities around.

Grayson is able to keep its small-town feel by being a sort of gateway for these other cities. Members of this community enjoy being able to make light work of their commute, even to Atlanta, then return in the evenings to a home away from the crowds and noise of the city.
