The holiday season is in full stride, as Dogwood Forest celebrates the season by giving back through many projects including participation in this year’s Toys for Tots program.

Dogwood Forest communities across the metro Atlanta area are holding multiple community wide toy drives to collect as many toys as possible for the annual U.S Marine Toys for Tots Program. The communities are also serving as donation sites for the general public.  Dogwood Forest community drives will run through December 22nd. Thus far, the drives have been successful.

“As a company, we have a foundational Christian belief that it’s important to be a contributing member to the greater community and do what we can to make it a loving place, said Kia Crawford, Director of Corporate Communications. “And this special season is even more a reminder. While our communities participate in volunteerism year round, the holiday season makes it even more enjoyable for participants.”

Along with the Toys for Tots drive, multiple Dogwood Forest communities adopted families during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Employees for Dogwood Forest have also donated time and resources at multiple churches, centers and shelters across the metro area.

“We are really proud of our teams for having such big hearts, and wanting to participate in our philanthropic programs,” said Crawford. “The residents are happy to participate as well.”

This holiday season Dogwood Forest of Gainesville hosted a yard sale for the Gateway Shelter for battered women and children. The community residents organized and managed the event. The community also is hosting a coat drive. Dogwood Forest of Fayetteville has an ongoing effort to collect blankets for the homeless, while the Dogwood Forest of Alpharetta location is participating in Operation Stars and Stripes where residents and their families are donating items to stuff stockings to send overseas to stationed soldiers.

The management arm of Dogwood Forest, Trinity Lifestyles Management,  plans to continue to expand in its philanthropic program in 2015; which currently primarily consist of senior initiatives to serve other populations.
