Resident Spotlight for Eagles Landing: Bettie Browning ONeal

Where did you grow up?

Bettie was born on August 9, 1930 in Jackson, Georgia.  She says that she grew up on a dairy farm.  She was the youngest of 6 children with 3 sisters and 2 brothers.  Today the 3 sisters are all living.  Bettie graduated from Jackson High School and then attended Asbury College in Kentucky before transferring to University of Georgia, where she earned a degree in Home Economics Education.

What are some of your favorite memories from your childhood?  Bettie says that some of her favorite childhood memories include washing milk bottles for her family diary business while growing up until she went away to college, following her father around the farm – especially riding on the combine – while harvesting wheat, attending Sunday School and Church with her family, and attending Camp Meeting with her … Read more...

Dogwood Forest of Fayetteville Resident Turns 100

One hundred years is a long time–equivalent to a century. Much has happened within the last 100 years. A man landed on the moon. We’ve gone from making the very first transcontinental telephone call in 1915 to having ways to stream live video and see on your mobile the face of the person you are speaking to. We’ve gone from messages via telegraph to instant messages directly to one or many via social media. Our world has changed tremendously in the last 100 years. While we all have read about it, could you imagine actually LIVING it?
