Nelda grew up in Pensacola, Florida, where going to the library and checking out books was a great pastime. Her love of reading has been a passion her entire life.
Living in Pensacola, a military town, Nelda watched as the troops returned from WWll by train. She recalls all of the joyful noises the men made because they were so happy to be coming home. A similar scene was also noted when troops returned from Korea.
Nelda worked her way through Florida State University, and then moved to the big city of Atlanta. Her professional career included a teaching school, H&R Block, Georgia Tech, and real estate sales.
